Uptown Ivy Menu
The Uptown Ivy is a small cafe/bakery that serves an eclectic chalkboard menu Monday through Saturday. We are known for our commitment to local farmers and seek to buy fresh and local whenever possible! Our Lunch Specials and Side Dishes reflect our desire to serve a variety of new tastes, as well as old favorites. We have a nice selection of Vegetarian options and also have an incredible reputation for our Sweet Treats! We serve lunch from 11-2 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Our morning Breakfast selection is served from 7-11 a.m Monday through Friday and from 8-11 on Saturdays. We feature a Meat or Vegetable Frittata, Bacon Sandwich, House Made Granola Parfait, Hot Oatmeal and a variety of Pastries.
Apricot and Raspberry are served fresh on Mondays and Wednesdays. Call in and order your favorite flavor for any day of the week!
Our cinnamon rolls are made from scratch and come out of the oven warm and gooey every friday and saturday morning. either get here early or call ahead to save one (or more) as they are gone early.
these caramel rolls are sinfully rich with caramel and pecans, not to mention how light and delish the roll itself is. order ahead or take your chances on Friday or Saturday morning...
Almond Bear Claws/$2.25
Although not always available ~these buttery bites of almond paste are worth the wait. Buy two or three and put them in the freezer ~ though they won't last long.
We serve carrot raisin bran, sour cream pecan, and blueberry.
As featured in TIME magazine, our Blackberry scones are the best in the land. We make them fresh and serve on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Lemon/Craisen Scone is also a crowd pleasure with the lemon sugar glaze, along with the Lemon Blueberry, or Chocolate Chip. It will be a tough choice or you could just order a batch of each for yourself. We can make lots of other flavors as well.
Rhubarb Brunch Cake/$2.25
People often say, "Oh,no. I don't like Rhubarb." The rich vanilla sauce makes this Rhubarb Cake....nothing to do with Rhubarb. Served daily ~ until it sells out!
Lemon Poppyseed Muffin/$2.25
Oversized in both taste and size, this will delight you with the little tart lemon taste that keeps the poppyseed muffin moist. The lemon glaze dripping down the side also helps make this one a keeper. Usually served on Wednesdays, you can order for your special day anytime.
House Made Granola Parfait/$3.50
Layers of yogurt and berries with a squeeze of agave! Gotcha! and I haven't even mentioned the granola that is made in house with wheat germ, oatmeal, pecans, walnuts, almonds, and dried fruit. We bake it with a topping of butter, maple syrup, honey, and some squeezes of orange juice and a hint of almond flavoring. Your morning has never looked (or felt) so good.
Meat or Vegetable Frittata/$5.60
Our Meat (the whole hog:sausage and bacon) or our Vegetable (yellow squash, zucchini, sweet potatoes, spinach and sometimes asparagus), Frittata will fill you up and in a good way. Gluten free! Served with your pastry choice or fresh fruit.
Baked Oatmeal the Ivy Way/$3.50
Let us warm your tummy and get your day off full of energy and ready to tackle anything. Served piping hot with a side of brown sugar, almonds and dried cranberries. No matter what the season, make this breakfast your 'go to'!
Our lunch menu is served from 11 am to 2 pm daily. The Specials are all priced with a Side dish, chips or Soup. Since choices are often hard to make at the Ivy, we offer a choose TWO or choose THREE, selecting from 1/2 sandwich, side dishes, or cup of soup. And just so you know, sometimes it's just mandatory to get a quattro!
HItting a home run this week with lunch at Uptown Ivy. Trying to pick long time favorites, so naturally I picked the Gourmet Spinach Soup and this is where "moderation" is tested.The super creamy cheesy soup is rather unhealthy (lots of cheese, cream, cream cheese) soup, so we rarely have it on the menu, and suggest moderation. Takes a lot of will power tho, because it is delicious. The SPECIAL~ MUSHROOM LOVERS QUESADILLAS~ is a beloved favorite from Ft. Madison days. It is a tortilla shell slathered in cheese and toasted and then stacked with mushroom that have been sauteed in balsamic vinegar, little wine, thyme, and butter. It literally is a Quesadilla that is Mushrooms and Cheese! No pepper, no onions, no sneaky healthy kale! Just naked cheese and mushrooms. So if in fact you are a lover of mushrooms, this is the QUESADILLA for you. We will continue to serve your other favorites as well: Turkey Artichoke Panini, Reubens, Deluxe BLTs, Meat and Vegetable Frittatas, and of course Chicken Tortilla Soup.
As many of you have heard, UPTOWN IVY is CLOSING. Our last day of business downtown at the UPTOWN will be Friday, May 31st. It was a bittersweet and difficult decision to make, but life is short, and if you don't reassess your priorities once in awhile, you miss some opportunities and end up with regrets. This is me. I am ready to semi retire and, in doing that, I will close the Uptown store, and focus on The Ivy at Shottenkirk Superstore. You will still have the great Ivy Bake Shoppe brand that you have loved since April 1992, and you will find me there several days a week, probably happier because I am not trying to "do it all" running between two stores and I will have a Saturday off once in awhile. It is time. I have 8 and 1/2 grandchildren that I want to play with more, write a second cookbook, and have lunch with old and new friends that have waited patiently for me to have time for them. I hope you will continue to support our mission (good food, great atmosphere, making memories), visit us often and join me in this new IVY journey. Honestly I am scared and yet so excited to see all the possibilities that this summer and beyond will hold for THE IVY.
Construction has begun on THE COLLECTIVE, the shared use kitchen that Tom Wolf is doing. The Ivy "baking kitchen" will share in that space, so we will continue to offer catering, box lunches, as well as specialty desserts. We will keep you in the loop of our progress at The Collective, as well as the final days of Uptown Ivy. I have loved meeting so many of you at Uptown, and I hope you know that I cherish all of our customers, because that is what keeps The Ivy alive and growing. It has been a blessed trip over the last 27 years and I fervently believe, The Best is Yet to Be.
If you have a favorite Ivy recipe, don't hesitate to let us know and we will put it on the menu one week. It is sometimes so sweet to make an old recipe and remember the memories that go along with it. I am that way when making a recipe that is handwritten by my mom or Granny Higby or perhaps a friend I haven't seen for a long time. A crowd pleaser, this marbled rye sandwich is stacked with corned beef, Swiss and provolone cheese, sauerkraut and our housemade 1000 Island dressing. Grilled to perfection on our sour dough bread.

The most favorite Panini ever at The Ivy and rightly so! This turkey winner is filled with spinach, jack and provolone cheese and turkey. The key is an artichoke and parmesan cheese sauce that is generously slathered on the garlic oiled sour dough bread and then grilled until the cheese is ooozing.

DELUXE BLT ON A BAGEL/$7.35
This is called Deluxe for a reason. We start with an Asiago Bagel sliced in thirds and then fill it with Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Jack Cheese, topped with a sliver of fresh avocado. Open wide as this is a triple decker!

Tasting this will be the beginning of a wonderful relationship. In addition to the black olives, pimentos, celery, and pineapple, the Chicken Salad has a dressing with a hint of lemon juice, dill weed and Durkees sandwich spread that makes it a "keeper". Once you taste it, you will never want to go back. Don't worry ~ we always have it on hand.

Veggie Sandwich with Pesto Mayonnaise
Our Veggie sandwich is made with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, radishes, sno peas, and carrots. The pesto (we make each summer out of a couple of bushels of Basil) mayonnaise is addictive so beware. The beauty is we make the sandwich once you order it, so we can add or delete any vegetables you want. Ahhh, small time bakery/cafe catering to individuals!

Roasted Corn And Black Bean Salad/$3.00
This will get your taste buds going with the cilantro and red onion rounding out the salad.
This a great keeper and filling as well. We roast the Portabello Mushrooms with Balsamic vinegar and Olive oil. The Spinach is sauteed with some Butter and chopped Garlic. A few tablespoons of Mascarpone cheese are stirred into the mixture. It is toasted with crumbled Bleu Cheese and topped with some candied walnuts. Sinful but so worth it.
Pesto Pearl (Israeli) Coucous/$3.00
My new favorite is this nutty flavored coucous mixed with tomatoes, zucchini and yellow squash and dressed with basil pesto.
Brussels and Butternut Medley/$3.00
If you haven't tried this side dish, what in the world are you waiting for? Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Diced Butternut Squash roasted to perfection and then mixed with Craisens, Toasted Pecans and a light dressing. I'll take two servings, please.
The first ever side dish at The Ivy, and still the first thing we sell out of almost every day. Broccoli, Bacon and Craisens and that sweet and sour dressing. Gets 'em every time.
Chunks of apple, grapes and celery, mixed with marshmallows make this a dreamy side dish when dressed with a little whipped topping, apple juice (and tell no one, a hint of curry!). Garnished with candied walnuts.
Cottage Cheese Vegetable Medley/$3.00
How does one describe a perfect deviled egg? Start with a fresh egg from Dean's Produce that is days old as opposed to 3-4 week shelf egg from your local grocery store. That is the difference in our deviled eggs. With that fresh egg, we add a little seasoning, mayo and blend til smooth. It is all about the EGG!
Tomato Basil Pie/$3.00
How do you describe something that is so simple yet so delicious? You take a simple baked pie crust, add fresh tomatoes and basil, a little garlic pepper and salt, and then top it with a mixture of cheeses and a little mayo and bake till golden brown. It is definitely a slice of heaven....and unfortunately only available while the basil and tomatoes are fresh from the garden.

A thirty year old recipe is as popular as ever. Chilled whole wheat Spaghetti pasta is teamed up with a little mayonnaise, lemon juice, lawry's seasoning salt ~ and then the veggies are added~ green peppers, pimentos, green onions and black olives. Perfect side with most any lunch special.
Twice Baked Potatoes/$3.00
Lots of butter and onions sauteed for an hour before adding the baked potato, cream, and cheddar cheese! That is about it. Beat until smooth, add a pinch of cayenne pepper and then refill the skins and bake. The results come with this warning....addictive!
Warm Onion Pie/$3.00
Sauteed Sweet onions, Swiss cheese served in a cracker crust. This should come with an addiction warning label. Could become the Salt Lake City's favorite Pie.
Bleu Cheese Mac-n-Chz/$3.00
Get here early, especially on Mondays (at Shottenkirk ) and Fridays (Uptown) and taste what the fuss is all about. Check out this ultimate ooey gooey with bacon, blue cheese, mozzerella and parmesan cheese! It is absolutely delish with everything, but especially the Deluxe BLT on a Bagel.

Big Chocolate Chip Cookies/$1.25
I don't think there is a description that would do justice to our over the top, incredible Chocolate Chip Cookies. I just can't find words to describe the ooze factor of the chocolate chips once mixed with the butter and sugar. After the first bite, you know all is right with the world and you are going to be okay!
